Important factors on the aphasic evaluation

Abstract

Some factors which influence the choice of an assesment of aphasia are discussed in this paper. This assessment will depend on the author’s aphasia concept, the neuropsychological and personal data and the relation between the assessment and the therapy line. The neuropsychological data help the understanding of the comportamental modifications due to cerebral lesion, can be or not related with the side of the lesion and will help in the linguistic evolution prognosis.The personal data are important for a correct linguistic assessment. And, finally, it is discussed the relation between the different forms of assessment and the different therapy lines, emphasizing that, for a speech therapist, the assessment should give some elements for therapy.
