Abstract

This study has a nature essentially theoretical and literacy, its theme is about reading as training and the reading experience in The book thief, by Markus Zusak, whose main character, Liesel, challenges the Nazi Germany in the context of war, stealing books to read them. Faced with a current context readings treated by many just as the decoding of written language, mechanical and innocuous activity or offered as truth, this study brings parallel discussions on improvements in teaching reading through the possible reflections and lights about reading experience derived from the literary work. Therefore it was proposed the methodological approach from theoretical framework constituted by the authors Jorge Larrosa, Alberto Manguel, Walter Benjamin and Paulo Freire, among others.
