4.º Congresso Internacional de História da Ciência no Ensino (4CIHCE) / 4th International Congress on the History of Science in Education (4CIHCE)
We are pleased to publish the first circular of the 4th International Congress on the History of Science in Education (4CIHCE). This event is a joint effort involving the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), Núcleo Lumen, the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Colégio Unidavi – University for the Development of Alto Vale do Itajaí, Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFC), the University of Algarve (FCT/UAlg - ABC-Ri), the Interdisciplinary Research Center in Education (EDUNOVA.ISPA), the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD - CIIE), and the University of Coimbra (CQC-IMS - CEIS20).
We believe that these meetings, aimed at discussing the History of Science and its interfaces with Education, play a fundamental role in historiographical, methodological, and curricular discussions. They allow for the exchange of knowledge among professors, educators, students, and researchers, fostering a broader understanding of the development of sciences over time and their impact on society. Additionally, they enable the updating of pedagogical practices based on a historical and critical approach to scientific knowledge.
As in previous editions, the organization of this event results from an important partnership between Brazilian and Portuguese universities and institutions. This collaboration strengthens academic ties between the countries, promotes the exchange of research and experiences, and broadens the scope of discussions, ensuring an interdisciplinary and plural approach to the History of Science in Education.
For this edition, we have opted for a fully online event, which not only expands access and participation for researchers and educators from different regions and backgrounds - overcoming geographical and financial barriers - but also reinforces our commitment to sustainability and the democratization of knowledge. This approach makes discussions on the History of Science in Education more inclusive and accessible.
