The humanization of the pharmacist's professional performance and its locus in health has traveled arduous paths. We sought to understand, in this article, the professional's history to consider their integrity/values, especially in the SUS. With the objective of teaching and knowledge of pharmacists, the study carried out through a bibliographical survey with the database, published from 2009 to 2019, wanted to answer the question: how did the trajectory of the pharmacist for his original identity as a health professional focused on the patient? It observed its history and that its conquests/losses are not of a recent nature, but of historical, social and political situations; which led to situations that triggered thoughts and actions that reverberate until today, leading to market adaptations, often imposed on the professional. The pharmacist has still been going through periods of adaptation and recognition/acceptance by society for a professional performance in health focused on patient care.
