Science Trail, Eddington, 1919 EclipseAbstract
Besides the scientific and press coverage inherent to the expedition for the observation of the May 29 1919 solar eclipse, the presence of a team led by the British Astronomer Arthur. Eddington to the island of Príncipe, in particular his stay at roça Sundy, was documented by himself in letters addressed to his mother and sister. What did Eddington see in the island of Príncipe? This is the motto for the conceptualization of a Science Trail which invites the participant to interact along its course with different dimensions of knowledge and local reality through integrative experiments which involve architecture, astronomy, physics, history and mathematics with the purpose of combining, in a balanced and harmonious way: history and science; heritage and future; development and preservation. The format of this Science Trail, builds upon the experience of previous trails created on the island as a starting point, and applies the research and framing from E3Global project (https://e3global.pt/) which has the main goal of writing the first global history of the1919 total solar eclipse.
