A brief review is made of the evolution of some fundamental concepts and ideas in Chemistry, in particular those relating to chemical elements and atoms, molecules and ions and compounds, molecular geometry, electronic structure, chemical bonding, interactions, and chemical reactions, which lead to the concept of “Big Ideas” in Chemistry. A simplified list of “Big Ideas” common to the analyzed proposals and based on the historical evolution of concepts in Chemistry is presented.
