Abstract

Yuval Noah Harari is one of the most interesting phenomena in contemporary intellectual production. A doctorate from Oxford and a professor at the University of Jerusalem, the author of "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind", one of the best sellers of science today, does not fail to provoke some counterintuitive intellectual experiences, even for the most demanding scholars and specialized readers. And, to some extent, it goes further: it proposes some theses that we can consider as daring and even original both in the field of bioanthropology and in the field of contemporary historiography and philosophy. Using a storytelling style that narrates the past and future of sapiens, Harari does not skimp on exposing his polemical intuitions and tackling extremely complex issues, such as the ontogenesis of consciousness and the impact of imminent speciation, when sapiens will fork into a new hominid.
