Abstract

La expresión “Noche oscura” que deriva del poema de San Juan de la Cruz se ha incorporado en la doctrina espiritual como el término global para designar las experiencias purificativas y de desolación por las que atraviesan los místicos en el proceso de unión con Dios. In Saint John of the Cross’ work night is presented as a symbol of spiritual deprivation and emptying. This same phenomenon enables us to approach it as a road towards spiritual freedom.  The literary characteristics of the work help us understand its underlying anthropology.
