Abstract

This paper discusses the scope of the so-called evidential problem of evil in the understanding of suffering as a case of horrendous evil. Basically, it is a matter of discussing in what sense suffering (for example, animal suffering) would be epistemically justified, which would avoid understanding that suffering as gratuitous evil and horrendous evil. This alternative is discarded.
