The epitome of Lilith and the work the Queen of Ignoto

The Sumerian myth of Lilith continues to emerge as a symbol of contemporary women's representation, independence, and feminine identity over the years. Associated with this character, we find Funesta, from the novel A Rainha do Ignoto by Ceará writer Emília Freitas, written at the end of the 19th century. In this work of fantastic literature, filled with mysteries, Freitas creates a character who embodies female supremacy, independence, and strength, challenging the patriarchal norms of her time to express her indignation. Historically portrayed as subversive and aligned with evil, Lilith and Funesta converge in their shared struggle for rights, defying passivity, submission, and blind obedience. More than a study on feminism and feminist theology, this article rejects sexist oppression and confronts archaic patriarchal ideologies, advocating for respect and equality within society as a whole.
