Perhaps the most obvious metaphor of life to designate the secret of Mozart’s music is that of Eden, Paradise. Isn’t his music, in its most inspired moments, pure longing for an original, full happiness? But, paradoxically, Death was the theme that took up the center of his musical thinking. Only an apparent paradox, since the death that the musician accepted and incorporated into his work, purified the abovementioned metaphor from its inherent misunderstandings and mirages. Thus, and going through a dense Night of the spirit, his music was transfigured into hope for the Kingdom.
