The Journal of Instituto GeoGebra Internacional de São Paulo (IGISP), evaluated by CAPES as Qualis A2, has commitment to ethics, transparency and quality throughout the publication process.

To this end, we uphold the following principles, based on the Code of Conduct and Standards of Good Practice for Journal Editors, made available by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

I) Editorial process

Throughout the stages of the editorial process, we are guided by some basic ethical principles:

  • Editorial independence: commitment to the independence of the publication, avoiding political, economic and business influence.
  • Respect: authors, editors and reviewers should not be discriminated against because of their race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality or political philosophy.
  • Diversity and equality: it seeks to promote diversity in our group of authors, editors and evaluators, seeking to reduce the inequality of opportunities.
  • Respect: all people should be treated with respect, authors as well as reviewers and editors. Offensive messages to any of the parties involved in the process will not be tolerated.
  • Transparency and communication: The journal IGISP is committed to the transparency of its editorial process and clear communication between editors, authors and reviewers.

II) Editor duties

The editor of the publication is guided by the policies decided by the Editorial Board, the Scientific Committee and the Editorial of Scientific Journals. These policies must comply with the applicable legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism. For decision-making, the editor may consult the Scientific Committee, the Editorial Board and the Editorial Board of Periodicals.

The editor's duties are:

  • Publication decision: the editor is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published, among those approved by the reviewers.
  • Confidentiality: the editor and other members of the editorial team must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript, except to reviewers and editorial advisors.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: the editor must not use unpublished material disclosed in a manuscript submitted in own research without the express written consent of the author. The editor must refuse to evaluate manuscripts in which he has conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies or (possible) institutions connected to the manuscripts.
  • Involvement and cooperation in investigations: the editor must take reasonable necessary measures when ethical complaints have been raised regarding a submitted manuscript or published article

III) Double-blind peer review process

In order to maintain impartiality and a high level of quality in our publications, the submitted papers are peer-reviewed double-blind system. The editors are responsible for:

  • Encourage reviewers to act in accordance with COPE's Ethical Guidelines for Reviewers.
  • Ensure the anonymity of both parties in the review process.
  • Investigate fraudulent or manipulated review processes.

It is expected that the reviewers to act ethically and responsibly throughout the evaluation process. It is the duty of the reviewer:

  • Contribute to editorial decisions through your proofreading.
  • Present an opinion that can help the author(s) in improving the article.
  • Be punctual in delivering your work. Any article reviewer who does not feel qualified to review the article or knows that it will be impossible to read it immediately must immediately notify the editor.
  • Exercise confidentiality. Papers received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown or discussed with others.
  • Adopt standards of objectivity in opinions. Reviewers must express their points of view clearly and supported by arguments.
  • Identify relevant works that have been published and were not cited by the authors.
  • Draw the editor's attention to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript in question and any other published article of which he is personally aware.

 About possible conflicts of interest:
