About the Journal

Bakhtiniana. Revista de Estudos do Discurso [Bakhtiniana. Journal of Discourse Studies], in electronic format, is a bilingual journal with all its content published in Portuguese and English. It was created in 2008 by Programa de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Linguística Aplicada e Estudos da Linguagem [Applied Linguistics and Language Studies Graduate Program] from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo/LAEL-PUCSP and by the members of Linguagem, Identidade e Memória [Language, Identity and Memory] Research Group/CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). The journal aims to promote and to publicize research on discourse.

Since 2019, it has published an issue every three months. Each issue is composed of original papers and book reviews written by professors and researchers from international and national universities.

It receives submissions on a continuous flow basis and for themed issues.

In 2023, the journal has adopted continuous publication, a format where its texts including presentations, editorials, articles, and reviews are published simultaneously on SciELO as they are approved and revised. These texts are distributed across the four annual issues of the periodical, remaining open until the end of its periodicity. After an issue is complete, it is also made available on Portal de Revistas da PUC-SP. The option for this type of publication is in line with Bakhtiniana's commitment in accelerating the communication process of quality research and, therefore, contributing to its availability for reading and citation.

In compliance with the current and good national and international scientific communication practices, Bakhtiniana has started in 2020 its process of adherence to Open Science.

A Dialogic Approach to Collective Memory

2024-11-09

We invite researchers to submit papers discussing, from a discursive point of view, the diverse ways the past can be understood as a dialogical construction to serve different aims in society. This includes the study of collective and cultural memory, the study of historical consciousness and critical thinking, and other various and varied configurations of collectiveness from a discursive approach. What are the collective structures of memory that build the contemporary (re)arrangement of social groups? Are there textual forms other than narrative that realize collective memory? How do new technologies influence the way people interact with the past? How does grand time alter the collective resources and devices of building memory? These are some of the questions this thematic issue aims to answer.
