Ibero-American Poetry: quotations and representation of Modernism in anthologies

Abstract

This article presents a study of discourse on Spanish American Modernism and Brazilian Modernism - crucial topics to study identity representations in Latin America - in the paratext of the anthologies: Twentieth-Century Latin American Poetry by Stephen Tapscott and Apresentação da Poesia Brasileira by Manuel Bandeira. The analysis focuses on otherness in discourse - lineal and pictoric styles (Bakhtin, 1929/1988) - to build authorship. Results show both properties of dialectic discourse and discourse anchored in poetic materiality, and consequences regarding the development of the anthology genre.

Silvana Mabel Serrani, Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP)

Professora titular do Instituto de Estudos da Linguagem (IEL), UNICAMP. Desde 1981 atua nas áreas de Análise do Discurso, LInguística Aplicada e Estudos Hispânicos. É pesquisadora do CNPq desde 1992. Seu projeto atual está concentrado nos estudos do gênero antologia par ao estudo da memória poético-cultural ibero-americana. Autora de artigos em revistas especializadas e dos livros A Linguagem na Pesquisa Sociocultural- um Estudo da Repetição na Discursividade, Discurso e Cultura na Aula de Língua e Letramento, Discurso e Trabalho Docente, entre outros.
