Singing in Churches: the study of choral members and non members vocal use

This article intends to know the way people use the singer voice and the speech voice. Specific questionnaires have been handed to the Coral members and non-members of those churches: Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist and Assemble of God. Each Church presented a different collected data, which was crossed with the literature and the following themes: singing and church’s history, sing in the church, characteristics of sing, singer voice in the Speech Language Pathology and vocal health. It has been concluded that there were no significant occurrence of vocal complaints between the coral members and non-members in the churches that were researched. However, people do not have conscience on how to use the voice. This is a kind of population, which presents an intense use of both singing voice and speech voice. Therefore, it is of paramount importance the Speech Language Pathology’s help to both groups.Downloads
