Use of grave crepitant sound (vocal fry model) in partial vertical larynjectomies
Keywords:
speech, laringx, laryngectomyAbstract
Background: Partial vertical laringectomy causes vocal alterations. Rehabilitation aims to promote supraglottic phonation. Aim: The goal of this study was to compare the configuration of the remaining larynx, before and after the crepitant phonation exercise in patients submitted to this type of surgical procedure. Method: Seven patients were selected, and direct laryngoscopy was used for observation before and after two minutes of this exercises. Results: Before the exercise, there was little vibration of the structures and of the ventricular bands, as well as medial and anterior-posterior constriction. After the exercise, there was more vibration and approximation of the structures, along with anterior-posteriorconstriction. Conclusion: We conclude that the grave crepitating sound determines greater vibration and approximation of the remaining supraglottic structures.Downloads
