Resumen

This article discusses the Creative Chain (Liberali, 2006a for citizenship education in the “Citizenship Action Project: Reading in Different Areas”(PAC-LDA). It approaches the concepts of sense, meaning, and answerability-responsibility (Bakhtin, 1992) as the basis for citizenship production. The analysis of data collected in the 2006 activities of the project suggests that shared meanings contribute to the view of citizenship in the Creative Chain of Activities as a desirable attitude (Kymlicka & Norman, 1997).

Fernanda Coelho Liberali, PUC-SP, São Paulo, Brasil

Fernanda Coelho Liberali has a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the Post-graduate Program of Applied Linguistics, PUC/SP (the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo), where she has been working as professor and researcher since 2000. She is the Brazilian representative for the International Society for Cultural and Activity Research (ISCAR). In a socio-historical-cultural perspective, her extramural and research concerns are related to teachers’ and teacher educators’ development, teaching-learning issues, citizenship education and argumentation.

Valdite Pereira Fuga, UMC, Mogi das Cruzes, Brasil

Valdite Pereira Fuga is a doctoral student in Applied Linguistics from the Post-graduate Program of Applied Linguistics, PUC/SP (the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo). Her thesis is related to the “Teacher Support Team (TST)” in the Acting as Citizens Project: Reading in Different Areas, organized by the research group “Linguagem em Atividades no Contexto Escolar (RG LACE)” in the Language and Education field. She has been working as a professor of languages at Mogi das Cruzes University (UMC).

Eduardo de Andrade Gonçalves, FAMA, Sergipe, Brasil

Eduardo de Andrade Gonçalves has a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from the Post-graduate Program of Applied Linguistics, PUC/SP (the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo). His research was related to critical reflection for teacher’s work development based on collaborative work and Activity Theory. He’s been working as a professor of Education at Faculdade Amadeus (FAMA) in Aracaju, Sergipe and is a member of NUPE – Núcleo de Pesquisa da Faculdade Amadeus.
