A corpus-based aproach within Juliane House’s Model for Translation Quality Assessment

This paper proposes an overt adaptation to Juliane House’s Model for Translation Quality Assessment (hereafter HMTQA) (House, 1997) in order to merge its macro-analytical framework with a lexical and syntactic corpus-based approach to evaluate translation quality. To do so, fi rstly we introduce HMTQA; secondly we argue why a corpusbased approach, along with aligning source text (ST) to translated text (TT), may play an operative role within HMTQA; fi nally we present an application of our proposal. It concerns the translation of O papel do Itamaraty from Portuguese into English: this text provides a general introduction to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) from the point of view of this governmental body.Téléchargements
