Matemática islâmica medieval em torno de al-Biruni e seus contemporâneos em HQ’s e mapas mentais digitais

This paper consists of a study on the transmission of medieval islamic mathematics around al-Biruni, anchored in the alliance between history of mathematics (HM) and digital technologies (DT), which can contribute to a better understanding of mathematics in a contextualized and interactive way. However, despite the potential of using HM and DT in teaching, there are still challenges to this end, such as the lack of adequate literature resulting, for example, from the reproduction of eurocentric narratives, which render invisible various contributions, particularly those of Islamic peoples in the Middle Ages. In this sense, this work aims to conduct a historical-mathematical study of al-Biruni, his contemporaries, and their works in the medieval islamic context, using updated and scientifically based digital resources, such as comic books, mind maps, and other technologies. To this end, we adopted a qualitative approach and bibliographic procedures, dedicating ourselves to the search, cataloging, and systematic analysis of sources related to al-Biruni, his contemporaries, and the mathematical knowledge they produced. As a result, we obtained information about their lives, their work/works, the context in which they were inserted, and the relationships between these scholars. This information was organized systematically and transposed into scripts and diagrams, which generated comic strips and digital mind maps that elucidate the knowledge in transit of medieval islamic mathematics and contribute to the availability of materials about these contributions, providing support for the use of this information in the teaching of mathematics and science.
