Abstract

This article problematizes the insertion of black students in the Brazilian university. There hasbeen an expansion of access for young popuar sector blacks to public universities, but theseinstitutions do not appear to be prepared to receive them, neither with regard to retention policies, nor with regard to the creation of an academic environment that welcomes diversity andpluralism. We examin the case of the Federal University of São Paulo, precisely because it is oneof the higher education institutions in which this integration effort is done with intensity.
