Abstract

The 1917 revolution inspired revolutionaries in various parts of the world. The echoes of October were also heard where the center of the struggle consisted in overthrowing European colonialism on African soil or U.S. racial segregation. Nevertheless, here in Brazil, despite the rise of a Communist Party during the first few years after the Bolshevik victory, the racial question was not perceived as a component of the struggles against capitalist exploitation.
