Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Before submitting a text it is important to pay attention on some ethical conditions (cf. FAPESP; COPE; ICMJE):

1. We comprehend as author each researcher that contributed directly and substantially to the intellectual and creative construction of the research and its results. The provision of financial resources and/or infrastructure does not constitute co-authoring.

2. All authors of a text must be in accord regarding the content of the manuscript and its submission to our Journal.

3. All authors must inform their respective e-mails so that each one may accompany the evaluation process.

4. All authors must inform their ORCID.

5. In the case of issues that possess texts of guest authors, these texts are also evaluated in double blind peer review process and may be or may be not approved for publication depending on the quality of the text.

6. The text, or parts of it (exception made for abstracts, thesis and dissertations), may not have been previously published in Portuguese or in another language.

7. Parts of the texts that were wrought further must indicate in explicative footnote the original publication.

8. During the period of evaluation, the text shall not be submitted to another Journal.

9. Once accepted of publication, editorial copyright is transferred to Teoliteraria.

10. All material used in the text that possesses copyright of another person must be duly referenced.

11. In cases of authorship disputation an e-mail must be sent to the editorial malpractice responsible person (teoliteraria@alalite.org).

The texts submitted to Teoliteraria must be sent by the system as it follows:

(1) if the author/s is/are not registered yet, please click here.

(2) in the registration, it is mandatory to fill the following topics: name, e-mail, institution, ID ORCID and biography.

(3) once registered, the author must access the system: click here.

Submission guidelines 

A) Submitted texts must follow the indicated structure:

 

  • Title and title translated into English (centered, Arial 14)
  • Abstract in the language of the text (between 150 and 200 words)
  • Keywords in the language of the text (3 to 5)
  • Abstract in English
  • Keywords in English
  • Introduction
  • Text with topics (use sequential numbering, ex.: 1, 2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3, 4...)
  • Conclusion
  • Bibliographical references and others
  • Articles must contain at least 10 and tops 25 pages (or between 30 to 90 thousand caracteres with spaces)
  • Arial 12; single-spaced.
  • Pages must be numbered in the top right corner.
  • Figures and charts must be in the text, not as annex in the final of the document.
  • Authorship info must be present only in metadata page which is fullfilled during the submission of the text.

 B) Citations must follow these criteria:

Free quotation: when another text ideas are quoted without transcribing it: “As Bosi (2012, p. 25) said Franciscan ecology was a dialectical reaction to the indifference of urban human”.

Textual quotation: Model Author, Year, page. Is the literal transcription of another text: “True poetry is always religious” (PRADO, 2011, p. 216). Until 3 lines the quotation remains in the paragraph. Quotations over 3 lines must be set in an indented paragraph format to the left (4cm) without quotation marks and in Arial 10.

C) References

References must appear in text body, with or without textual citation following the model Author, Year, page. The title of the reference must be in italics, not underlined, exception to URLs.

Footnotes must be explicative notes only.

Biblical references, documents, or ancient authors must be quoted accordingly each model and must appear in the body of the text.

D) Bibliography 

 

Bibliography must be listed in the final of the text, in alphabetical order, following ABNT guidelins. Ex.:

Translations

When a document is translated, put the expression. ‘translated by’ followed by the name of the translator after the title of the work.

Repeated names

Do not use underline. REPEAT the name of the author:

Texts may be submitted as:

 

  • Articles

Only will be accepted original texts that present research and analysis on ideas, themes, documents, experiences and methodologies pertinent to the relations of Literature, Art, Theology and Religion contemplating the Area of Religious Studies and Theology.

The Abstract must contain explicitly the relation between Theology and Literature.

  • Research Report

• Will be accepted texts that present reports on ongoing research, texts that provoke debate, case studies, and other works that do not fit in other sections.

• Texts must contain title (in the language of the text and in English) abstract, keywords and, eventually, footnotes. The text must have no longer than 25 pages. 

  •  Book reviews

• Book reviews must contain no longer than 5 pages and must presente: name of the book author (and translator, if relevant), title, city, Publisher, year of publication, number of pages and title of the book translated into English.  

  • Interviews and Debates

• Unprecedented interviews or debates will be accepted when pertinent to Religious and Literature Studies.

• Texts must contain title (in the language of the text and in English) abstract, Keywords, name of the interviewr in footnote. The text must contain no longer than 20 pages.

  •  Proceedings and bibliographical notes

 

 • Thesis and dissertation abstracts must contain no longer than 5 pages and present the name of the author, title, year, number of pages, nature of the work (dissertation or thesis in...), Graduation Program, Institution, place. The title must be translated into English and informed in parenthesis. After these identification and reference elements must be informed the abstract and keywords (in the language of the text and in English).

• In a footnote must be informed the Advisor’s name, the date of the thesis or dissertation defense and classification of the work if available.

• Synthesis of academic events, and/or brief texts presented in such events may also be published.
