About the Journal

Bakhtiniana. Revista de Estudos do Discurso [Bakhtiniana. Journal of Discourse Studies], in electronic format, is a bilingual journal with all its content published in Portuguese and English. It was created in 2008 by Programa de Estudos Pós-Graduados em Linguística Aplicada e Estudos da Linguagem [Applied Linguistics and Language Studies Graduate Program] from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo/LAEL-PUCSP and by the members of Linguagem, Identidade e Memória [Language, Identity and Memory] Research Group/CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). The journal aims to promote and to publicize research on discourse.

Since 2019, it has published an issue every three months. Each issue is composed of original papers and book reviews written by professors and researchers from international and national universities.

It receives submissions on a continuous flow basis and for themed issues.

In 2023, the journal has adopted continuous publication, a format where its texts including presentations, editorials, articles, and reviews are published simultaneously on SciELO as they are approved and revised. These texts are distributed across the four annual issues of the periodical, remaining open until the end of its periodicity. After an issue is complete, it is also made available on Portal de Revistas da PUC-SP. The option for this type of publication is in line with Bakhtiniana's commitment in accelerating the communication process of quality research and, therefore, contributing to its availability for reading and citation.

In compliance with the current and good national and international scientific communication practices, Bakhtiniana has started in 2020 its process of adherence to Open Science.

Thematic Issue: 60 years of Rabelais and His World (1965-2025) / Dossiê temático: 60 anos de A obra de François Rabelais e a cultura popular na Idade Média e no Renascimento (1965-2025)

2026-02-06

Bakhtin’s works on François Rabelais, Rabelais and His World and Rabelais and Gogol: The Art of Discourse and the Popular Culture of Laughter undoubtedly his most important and most referential works both in linguistic, discursive, literary studies and in the human sciences in general, have been retranslated directly from the Russian language to Brazilian Portuguese by Sheila Grillo and Ekaterina V. Américo as A obra de François Rabelais e a cultura popular na Idade Média e no Renascimento (1965-2025)/ Rabelais e Gógol (A arte da palavra e a cultura popular do riso) [Rabelais and His World (1965-2025)/ Rabelais and Gogol. The Art of the Word and the Popular Culture of Laughter][1] (São Paulo: Ed. 34, 2025[1965]). It is precisely this double event that motivates the organization of this dossier: to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the publication of the works by M. Bakhtin and the launch of the new Brazilian Portuguese translation. With this incentive as reference, the articles to be submitted to publication should be guided by the thematic axes explained at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xva35wu3RO280tnTA6ciEjA8DNezPCqG/view?usp=sharing.
