<strong>PUBLIC POLICIES AND CURRICULUM REFORM: THE PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN PARANÁ DURING THE FIRST REPUBLIC</strong>

Through research, I analyzed primary teaching in the public schools of the State of Paraná, during the First Republic, taking into account political, economical, administrative and legislative aspects which permitted the development in teaching, as well as the external and internal influences which resulted in the formation of society in general. The social, economical and political transformations affected the education policies of the government, oriented to the changes in the school organization through the development of school groups, and which eventually led to alterations in the curriculums and teaching methods determined by the regulations. These changes were followed by the adoption of books and the investment on devices destined to the school groups, mainly. The new methods aimed at conciliating the new curriculum guidelines to a better learning and to teaching uniformization. In order to obtain this information, I surveyed original fonts, which consist of reports, legislations and official letters and I also employed the historic method, using heuristic, hermeneutic and synthetic techniques, with the purpose of reconstructing that school reality. Finally, I used the comparative method to establish correlations among legislations, as well as to facilitate the analysis of different regulations. I intend, thus, to portray teaching through curricular and methodological procedures, in order to depict the pedagogic practices performed in public schools.Downloads
