<strong>BALANCE OF STUDENTS’ PRODUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE ON ADULT NON-SCHOOL EDUCATION AND POLITICAL EDUCATION: 1999 TO 2006</strong>

The article analyzes 22 academic works, defended from 1998 to 2006, of which, sixteen are dissertations and five are theses, all referring to the theme political education. The works that have been analyzed were grouped into six broader categories – Education for Citizenship, Formation Program, Political Education in the Social Movements, Redefining Political Education, Political Education and Formal Education, and Relations between State and Civil Society. The researches attribute values to the experiences and actions according to the effectiveness of the educational process in view of social transformation. The research indicates that the methodological issue with regard to understanding and assessing educational processes is still a great challenge for those who research political education. Some studies seek to overcome the common sense idea that “participation generates knowledge” without, however, indicating what knowledge is constructed and how this is constructed.
