Abstract

The aim of this article is to take a comparative look at the myth of the angry black woman in German, North American and Brazilian cultures, through the Afrodiasporic feminist thought present in the works of Audre Lorde (2019), Raquel A. Griffin (2022), Lélia Gonzalez (2018), Ciani-Sophia Hoeder (2021) in dialogue with the critical racial theories analyzed in Aparecida J. Ferreira (2015) and the field of L. Vygotsky's theories with Anna Stesenko and her concept of radical transformative agency. To this end, we will analyze the book Wut und Böse by Ciani-Sophia Hoeder, an Afro-German journalist. This stigma, of the angry black woman, is a transversal nomos that runs through the trajectory of black women in Western societies. It is an expression of racism, the result of the processes of colonization and coloniality that define Modernity according to decolonial theories. Our intention is to show how these women use this affection, anger, to substantiate their action in the world, by criticizing the discursive device that controls their narratives and their bodies.

Author Biography

Érica Schlude Wels, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brasil.

She is an Associate Professor of German language and literature in the Department of Anglo-Germanic Letters at the Faculty of Letters of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where she has worked since 2011. Since 2017, she has been a member of the teaching staff of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program in Applied Linguistics at UFRJ (PIPGLA). She has a bachelor's degree in Letters, Portuguese/German, from the UFRJ, majoring in Journalism, a master's degree and a doctorate in Vernacular Letters, both from the UFRJ. During the first semester of 2021, she completed a post-doctoral internship at the Romanistik Institute of the Universität Wien, Austria.
