Abstract

Chemistry as well as other branches of science has a fundamental role in society, so understanding the process of construction of this knowledge is extremely important for students, however, chemistry teaching is often based on traditional methodology where the concern about the construction of knowledge often does not happen. A strategy that can be used to promote more motivating teaching for the student is the use of Storytelling, which seeks the active participation of students, through experiences and learning moments that can contribute to the development of critical and creative skills. Therefore, in this scenario, this work aims to assist in the process of construction and understanding of atomic models, using Storytelling and the historical context in which they were elaborated, through digital platforms. The research was developed in a class of the 1st year of high school, with 32 students, from the Adélia Leal reference school, located in the city of Caruaru/PE. As a data collection instrument, the virtual logbook, created in the WhatsApp application, and video recordings of the presentation of the student’s assessment. The students managed to create relationships between the atomic models and the historical context in which they were inserted, now they are able to realize that these are factors that directly interfere in the construction of knowledge. In a similar way, they also realized that Science is not static, and that it constabtly undergoes updates as a way of responding to the new demands of Society.
