Abstract

Resumo

Apresentamos o Método da Tangente de Newton, empregado na resolução do problema geral da determinação da tangente a uma curva num ponto dado, com apoio do software Geogebra. Acompanhando os passos de Newton, mostraremos que o Método da Tangente, aliado à história de sua criação, pode constituir-se numa estratégia de ensino e aprendizagem do Cálculo Diferencial em cursos universitários.

Abstract

We show Newton's Tangent Method used to solving the general problem of finding the tangent of a curve at a given point, with the software Geogebra. Following the Newton's algorithm, we figure out that the tangent method combined with the history of its creation may constitute a strategy of teaching and learning of differential calculus in college.
