Abstract

Here we report the results of a study on the initial formation of teachers as they are prepared to use Information and Communication Technologies (TIC) as resources within the educational context. The study was developed and based on previous related studies and theory. The study-survey was performed with students registered in the first year of the Pedagogy Course of the São Caetano do Sul Municipal University - USCS. The initial formation environment emphasized the value of developing technical and operational skills as well as learning the theoretical and conceptual bases of TIC for innovative educational practice. The method used in the study was a questionnaire with multiple choice as well as open questions. The quantitative data was plotted and analyzed and the qualitative data was separated in categories and further analyzed. Based on the results it was possible to identify clear changes and a broadening of the perspective, views, and outlook of the students on the potential of TIC in the educational context.
