Abstract

This article presents the results of an investigation carried out with students of a Pedagogia higher education course, in distance learning. It deals with the issue of how they understand information and communication technologies and their use in the classroom. The study of this theme in courses that deal with teacher training is essential so that these future education professionals may become conscious of the limits and possibilities of their use in the classroom. This research showed clearly the students’ concepts and understanding of the issue, ranking it as an available resource in the improvement of the learning/teaching process and development of the education professional. The widely spread idea that technologies are a threat to the teacher did not have supporters. Also, it is possible to infer that the students are conscious that continued development with emphasis on technologies is extremely important.
