Abstract

This article intends to discuss three different perspectives on voice understanding, trying to clarify some of its implications for the speech and language pathology praxis. These perspectives are clinical-organic, linguistic suprasegmental and clinical-therapeutic. Inside this last one, special emphasis is given to the listening performed by the therapist, in order to provide the patient with autonomy in the understanding related to his or her own voice and its uses.
