Vol. 26 No. 1 (2026): Religião digital: reconfiguração das experiências

Digital transformation is undoubtedly one of the most salient characteristics of contemporary culture, cutting across all its configurations without exception. Considering that the various articulations of religious experience are inevitably linked to the respective cultural forms in which they take place, it is expected that digital transformation will have a very significant impact on the reconfigurations of the religious. In fact, this reconfiguration is happening at various levels, from the more individual and psychic profile of experiences to their collective configurations, particularly rituals. Digital reconfigurations of the religious can be identified, for example, in the sphere of textuality, authority, rituality, eschatological imagination and its impact on everyday life, as well as the usual practices of believers. At the same time, considerable differences are observable in the ways that different religious traditions interpret digital environments, negotiating different strategies regarding online religious practices and experiences.
