Abstract

This essay deals with some aspects of Jung’s analytical psychology that may contribute to the reflection upon teachers’ formation, in ways that consider teachers’ and students’ subjective dimension as well. It begins by emphasizing the state-of-the-art importance of Jung’s work, an author seldom mentioned in educational literature, and by connecting his ideas with inter- and transdisciplinary approaches in education. The essay also claims that Jung’s theory has contributed to seek subject transformation in Western society. Concepts such as individuation, archetypical behavior patterns, symbolic language, personal and collective unconscious, conscience function, are most valued when it comes to reflecting upon the subjective dimension of teachers’ and students’ formation/transformation within the educational environment.
