Fake news, misinformation and post-truth have become buzzwords due to the concerns they cause and the alarm systems they sound due to the fact that they are not mere words, but designations that refer to the harmful effects they have on human behavior and society as a whole. There is a profusion of texts being produced on the risks of this phenomenon, a profusion that tends to grow, as no effective antidotes have yet been found to stop the fever for deception and lies, whose consequences interfere with decision-making processes. It is in this context that the number 23 of TECCOGS seeks to interfere by bringing to discussion the most recent unfolding of fake news in the videographic forms of deepfakes that, precisely because of their visual nature, aided by sophisticated technologies, most likely promise to bring more ammunition to the ongoing industry and cause even more damage than fake news.
