Phonoaudiological practices in focus: questions and reflections from a group of mothers

Abstract

The Health Promotion paradigm implies assuming changes in the conceptions that are related to professional practices, especially enlargement and interrelation between health and educational conceptions. The objective of this study is to analyze the Phonoaudiology matters and conceptions that emerge in a group and that interfere in professional practice. The analysis focuses on the speeches made between the given professional and the members who take part in the group of mothers. The results point out to limited health and educational conceptions, and also to conflicts between Phonoaudiology discourse and practice. It infers the necessity of review and transformation of some conceptions in order to make Phonoaudiology advance in its proposals concerning attention to education and health promotion.
