This work is part of a research on Health Education, developed by the author for her Master’s degree on Child and Adolescent Health Science at University of Medicine at UFMG (Faculdade de Medicina – Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais). It took place at the Clinic-school of Speech Therapy College at Centro Universitário Metodista Izabela Hendrix, BH - MG. The Collective Subject Discourse technique was used to analyze the speech of family members of children with alterations on Language Development. These children were waiting for a place where they would get specialized care. The speech analyzed shows that the parent’s concepts and beliefs regarding their children’s difficulties interfere in the way these parents act and also in the way they face those difficulties. Speech alterations could create problems in the family relationships and compromise the child development and learning. Therefore, it is considered a collective health issue.Downloads
