Resumo

Este artigo e as investigações relacionadas, dizem respeito às causas e consequências históricas da discriminação de gênero na Educação, Ensino e Pesquisa associados à Matemática. São expostos, comentados e discutidos aspectos da participação feminina na construção do conhecimento matemático, no contexto político-social compreendido entre a Grécia Clássica e os dias atuais. Mostra-se que as mulheres não apenas romperam as imposições de seu tempo, como conquistaram notoriedade na Matemática e em áreas afins. Destacam-se, também, as participações e colaborações de algumas das mais importantes matemáticas que contribuíram com a história da Educação e do Ensino das Ciências no Brasil.

Abstract

This paper and the related investigations address the causes and historical consequences of gender discrimination upon Education, Theaching and Research associated to Mathematics. It consists in an exposition, commentaries and discussions concerning the aspects of women´s participation in the construction of mathematical knowledge, in the socio-political context between the Classical Greece and the present days especially until the beginning of the century XX. It is demonstrated that women not only broked the impositions of their time, but also had conquered notoriety in Mathematics and related areas. In addition to that, it is also highlighted the participations and collaborations of some of the most important mathematicians that have contributed to the history of Education and Teaching of Science in Brazil.
