About the Journal

The name GALÁxIA is not only an homage to the poet, translator, and cultural thinker Haroldo de Campos and his work, but also a poetic-astronomical reference. The word also harbors an intriguing archaeology. The Greek word Gala/Galaxtos, as well as its Latin counterpart Lac(te)/Lactis, both derive from the Indo-European root Glag or Glac, which meant ‘milk’—the nourishment of humans and animals or the sap of plants. Thus referring to the origin of life, the primal nourishment, GALÁxIA as a journal aims to offer sap for research, disseminating it and generating new cycles of life. (Norval Baitello Junior).
