The aim was to investigate the co-occurrences between early hospitalizations (EH) and language disorders (LD) in children. A retrospective, quantitative study was conducted in a service of speech therapy, based on the survey of the records of patients with LD and EH (up to five years old) from 02/2000 to 06/2012. The occurrences between EH and PL was found in 67 subjects (23,10%) of the 290 records collected. The Delay of Language Acquisition (DLA) was present in 52,2% of subjects. There was statistical significance between the amount of EH and the occurrence of DLA. Relations between EH and LD were observed in the studied population and suggest that the promotion of interactional conditions favorable for the development of children’s language, in the hospital environment, should be shared by staff and discussed in interdisciplinary researches on the topicDownloads
