The first steps of the interdisciplinary research group in statistics and mathematics education

This article presents the trajectory of the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Statistical and Mathematical Education (GIPEEM), affiliated with Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul. Created in 2024, the group is dedicated to investigating the teaching and learning processes of Statistics, Probability, and Combinatorics, focusing on curriculum, educational assessment, and teacher education, articulating these dimensions with the teaching of Mathematics in basic education. The study is characterized as qualitative research of a documentary nature, based on records and scientific productions developed by the group since its creation. It is theoretically grounded in studies on collaborative groups. The findings show that GIPEEM operates as a democratic space for dialogue, authorship, and shared reflection, contributing to bridging the gap between the university and basic education and promoting formative practices.
